I was sitting in your seat five short years ago. Scouring the internet looking for the answer.
Was Farrow & Ball paint worth the fuss? Worth the price? Worth the hassle?
I had to know.
Words kept coming up like, resin, specialty, and sophistication. It seemed at least in the architectural community that this paint may actually be the real deal. I ordered a gallon and got to work experimenting as I usually do in my own home. The more I learned, the more I fell in love. It was like a blind date going very, very, and I mean very well.

Keeping with the analogy, our first date was truly a delight. My first impression, handsome exterior; I couldn't wait to see how this would go! The label felt like I just stumbled into an English bookstore, well appointed and with the kind of sophistication that can only come from heritage products. I remember thinking, "Okay, I see you!"
You might count the second date when the pigment met the wall. It went on smooth and covered as well as any of the higher ends paints I'd previously encountered. The real beauty came when it dried. The paint (in sheen Estate Emulsion, which is one of my favorite go-to sheen, sparkled. Not in an obnoxious glittery way, but in a subtle, you are glowing manner.

Now I'll come clean and say what I always say to new walk-in clients when considering this brand of paint. If you're not a home nerd, and you walk by walls without another look, never notice a non perfectly mitered trim edge, and don't stop to feel the velvet, you may not notice the difference. I, however, with my affinity for the finer things, especially when it comes to home finishes will vouch for this paint everyday of the week. It is quality, and most importantly the hues are richly displayed. Reds are redder, blues are bluer, and neutrals tend to bounce light in a way that is iridescent.
I could go on and on but here are my top 5 reasons of why Farrow & Ball Paint is superior on the market and why we decided to carry it in our store, giving precious real estate to display this one-of-a-kind product.
They have only 132 perfect colors at one time.
Most brands go for quantity over quality. Not F&B. They display and market 132 colors that hit the mark. You don't have to shuffle through thousands of colors that you don't want looking for colors that will work flawlessly.
They print their paper with paint.
You heard that right. When you touch their crafted wallpaper it's raised, like a letterpress. It feels rich, it looks dynamic, and it perfectly pairs with colors you can buy for your wall, ensuring a delightful match.
Clean air for my family and yours.
I have held my LEED ID+C AP since 2009. That means I care about the built environment being stewarded well making spaces that are safe and healthy for our families. F&B has 100% water-based, low odor and is rated A+ for indoor air quality. That means low or minimal VOC (volatile organic compounds) making this a safe choice for family use.
The sample pots are cute as cute can be.
That may sound silly but the sample pots are great for a few reasons. They are adorable. They are small enough that you don't end up with waste, and they come in my favorite sheen, modern emulsion. It makes it easy to put on the wall and see if the lighting in your space plays well with your newfound color.
Sheen perfection.
Speaking of sheen, they have more sheens than the standard brand, giving an enhanced subtle transition when needed between the reflectivity of the space. Other brands may offer just a few, making it a flat or super shiny experience, and sometimes you need something more pointed, more specific, and more controlled.
You may think I'm being overdramatic or even just touting this brand because we now have a direct relationship as a stockist. The truth of the matter is that we stock it because we love it and it deserves a home in Iowa!

If you need help selecting the perfect shade for your space or expertise on the sheen that will enhance your architectural trim, look no further. Make my day and yours, and let's get you covered in the best product available today in paint! I'll put the coffee (or tea) on and we can gush over the beauty that is Farrow & Ball.
